How to deal with your acne problem
Acne is a problem that is encountered by almost all the teenagers. Acne causes skin inflammation due to clogged pores. They are otherwise known as pimples. Acne mainly attacks the face, neck, chest, upper arms and back. Dead skin and excess of oil get deposited under the pores and bacterial attack on the skin triggers acne. Acne is found to appear commonly in teenagers because hormones are highly active in teenagers. These hormonal secretions acts on sweat or the sebaceous glands along with oil content of the body and plugs the pores of the skin causing the outbreak of acne.
People of all ages and back grounds can have acne. But, it is seen to be more common among adolescents and normally occurs in teenagers between the age group of 12 to 18 years. Some young adults between the ages 19 to 24 years also suffer from acne. As acne is a dermatological problem, it is better to consult a dermatologist to find out the causes and the methods to alleviate it. Sometimes irregular acnes are caused in women due to menstrual cycle problems, cosmetic problems, taking some types of medicines or even due to tensions of the daily life.
Proper treatments and preventive measures can control acne. High fatty foods like ice creams, pastries, oil fried meat etc can aggravate acne and hence should be avoided. Washing the acne affected areas three or four times a day with mild soap and water can alleviate acne. Diet should contain more fruits and vegetables and water intake should be more. Sometimes, cosmetic products can also cause acne and it is better to avoid such products.
Usually acne will disappear by itself after a few years without causing any scars. If you try to break the acne or pimples, infection may occur and scars will develop. Personal hygiene is an important factor in preventing acne outbreaks to a large extent. As there are several reasons for acne, treating acne is not easy. The method of treatment working for one person may not work for another person.
For treating acne topical medications like ointments, gels, creams, lotions etc as well as oral medications are prescribed to teenagers suffering from severe acne problems. The scars caused by acne can be removed by chemical peeling, microdermabrasion etc. There are many natural home remedies for treating acne. The main home remedies are: applying mixture of lemon extract and rose water, applying mint leaves extract on acne affected areas, applying a mixture of gram flour and turmeric powder, honey cinnamon paste etc.
Proper exercise to improve your blood circulation, healthy food, personal hygiene, relaxing the body and mind etc can reduce the appearance on acne in the teenagers to a great extent. Keeping your skin well hydrated prevents acne. Teenagers affected with acne should be taken to a dermatologist to cure acne and a psychological approach is needed if the teenager is very much concerned about the development of acne on the body as it leads to behavioral problems in teens.
